Mari Hulick
Mari Hulick is a Professor of Visual Communication Design. Prior to joining the SFSU faculty, she was faculty and in administration at The Cleveland Institute of Art, Parsons School of Design, and UCLA. From 2017–2026, she was the Director of The School of Design.
Her practice is rooted in publication and information design, and has expanded into the multidisciplinary fields of social design, justice design, and transition design. Comfortable in a variety of media: print, interactive, web, app, and environmental graphics, her award-winning practice is rooted in a strategic, user-focus approach. After living in Paris, New York, and Cleveland, Mari is thrilled to be living in California again, especially here in the Bay Area.
